TITAN Collaborates with ARAI to Explore Digital Test Lifecycle Management in Passive Safety Testing
TITAN, the test lifecycle management platform developed by 12th Wonder, has collaborated with the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) to explore how digital solutions can make passive safety testing more connected, efficient and traceable. The engagement focused on applying digital test lifecycle management to automotive testing and homologation workflows inside ARAI's Passive Safety Laboratory.
About ARAI's Passive Safety Laboratory
ARAI is one of India's foremost bodies for automotive research, testing, certification and homologation. Its Passive Safety Laboratory supports homologation for crash regulations and India's vehicle safety star rating programme. The lab runs full frontal, offset frontal, side, side pole and rear impact crash tests to AIS, ECE, FMVS and NCAP rules. It also performs static rollover tests and maintains a range of instrumented adult and child dummies alongside a dummy calibration unit.
Why Passive Safety Testing Needs Connected Workflows
A single crash test pulls together a long chain of activity. Dummies need valid calibration before they go into a vehicle. Barrier and sled slots are booked well in advance. Sensor channels, high-speed video and post-test inspection notes must come together into a report that holds up under regulatory review. Each step involves a different team with its own records.
When that information lives across spreadsheets, email threads and standalone tools, coordination slows and traceability weakens. Clear visibility across the full test lifecycle helps programme teams catch conflicts early and keep an audit trail that runs from the first test request to the final certificate.
What the Engagement Explored
TITAN brings test planning, scheduling, execution, data management and reporting into one connected platform. Through this engagement, the TITAN team worked with ARAI to examine how that lifecycle view applies to crash testing and homologation workflows. The work looked at how better coordination between stakeholders, regulatory requirements and test data can strengthen the way testing programmes are managed.
Thanks to the ARAI Team
The TITAN team sincerely thanks ARAI for its valuable collaboration, technical engagement and openness throughout this initiative. Working alongside engineers who run regulatory crash programmes every day gave the team a detailed view of what passive safety labs need from digital tools.
Looking Ahead
TITAN looks forward to building on this collaboration with ARAI. The team will continue contributing to the evolution of digital testing practices across the automotive industry, supporting OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, test labs and certification agencies as their programmes grow in complexity.
