Amenity Manikin System for Vehicle Cabin Comfort Testing
Designed for automotive HVAC development and thermal-comfort research, the system uses a full-size human-shaped measurement platform to capture environmental conditions at locations across the body. Integrated sensors measure the factors that directly influence how an occupant experiences the vehicle cabin, including:
• Air velocity
• Air temperature
• Relative humidity
• Radiant heat
A single manikin may be equipped with more than 120 sensors, allowing engineers to identify localized hot spots, cold spots, drafts, and uneven airflow that may be missed through conventional vent measurements alone.
The system can be used to evaluate heating and cooling performance, airflow distribution, passenger comfort, and cabin climate-control design. Up to four manikins may be measured simultaneously, supporting more complete simulations of driver and passenger conditions throughout the vehicle.
Wireless communication simplifies test setup, while graphical software supports real-time measurement, visualization, and retrieval of recorded data.
