Multi-Channel Anemometer – Model 1580
For automotive engineers, multipoint measurement provides a more complete view of airflow distribution than testing one position at a time. The system can support vehicle HVAC development, passenger-cabin airflow analysis, ECU thermal management, electronic-component cooling studies, and environmental test-chamber research.
Simultaneous Multipoint Measurement
The Model 1580 collects measurements from as many as 12 connected probes at once. This allows engineers to compare airflow conditions throughout a vehicle cabin, across an electronic assembly, or around multiple components during the same test.
Simultaneous measurement also reduces the uncertainty that can occur when operating conditions change between individually collected readings.
Key Capabilities
• Simultaneous measurement across as many as 12 channels
• Fifteen compatible probe configurations
• Air-velocity measurement beginning at 0.01 m/s
• Maximum air-velocity range up to 50.0 m/s, depending on the probe
• Available measurement of air velocity, temperature, and humidity
• Compact miniature probes for confined measurement locations
• USB connection between the instrument and a Windows PC
• Included Windows measurement software
• Real-time graphs for monitoring multiple channels
• Data saved in text format for import into Excel and other analysis software
• Optional voltage or current outputs through the Model 1592 Analog Unit
• Compact, portable main unit suitable for installation inside vehicles
Flexible Probe Selection
Available probes include flat, unidirectional, needle, spherical, angled, and miniature configurations. Engineers can select probes for air velocity only, air velocity and temperature, or air velocity, temperature, and relative humidity.
This flexibility makes it possible to position sensors inside HVAC outlets, near electronic control units, around heat-producing components, and in other confined locations.
Automotive Applications
• Passenger-cabin airflow distribution
• Vehicle HVAC performance testing
• ECU thermal-management studies
• Electronic-component cooling evaluation
• Airflow around batteries and electrical assemblies
• Environmental chamber testing
• Defroster and ventilation research
• Multipoint airflow mapping
Optional Analog Output
When measurements must be sent to external data-acquisition equipment, the optional Model 1592 Analog Unit provides 12 channels with selectable 0–5 V voltage or 4–20 mA current output.
The Model 1580 combines multipoint measurement, miniature probe technology, and real-time PC monitoring to help automotive engineers understand how air moves throughout complex systems.
