Overview of 802.3dm automotive cabling 'link segments' and in-car test methods
21 Oct 2025
Tuesday, October 21 - morning session
The IEEE 802.3dm Task Group is developing physical layer (PHY) specifications for operating speeds of 2.5Gb/s, 5Gb/s and 10Gb/s operation in one direction and 100Mb/s operation in the other direction on automotive cabling in an automotive environment. The 802.3dm draft standard includes the copper media specifications referred to as 'link segments' and the medium dependent interface (MDI) equipment connector. The presentation will provide a detailed overview of the 802.3dm draft standard 'link segments' and MDI specifications and offer practical examples of test methodologies and equipment to assess in-car link segment performance.
